Makerspace builds
I've been a makerspace TA since January 2026. The makerspace serves our whole engineering program, roughly 200 students. In the fabrication classes, where groups of 12 learn each tool and process, I work with two or three students at a time. I also design and build the fixtures, racks, and demo parts the shop runs on.
-
Metal stock storage rack
A steel rack rated for 4,000 lb that holds the shop's metal stock across a range of sizes. Welded square-tube end frames bolt to long rails, and the rack stands on adjustable leveling feet. I was part of the team that fabricated it.

-
Respirator cabinet
A wall cabinet that keeps the shop's respirators visible and out of the dust: two wood-framed doors with acrylic windows, three shelves, and aluminum pulls.

-
Sanding disk rack
A metal-frame rack with upper and lower shelves, leveling feet, and a bent sheet-metal perch, revised three times.

-
Safety glasses rack
A sheet-metal wall mount that holds a 3/8 in round bar for hanging safety glasses.

-
Plasma cutter PC enclosure
Panels for the computer that runs the plasma cutter, with a cutout and hinged cover for the power switch. Four revisions to get the fit right.
Laser-cut acrylic
-
Welded sundial
A sundial whose plates trace the skyline of Tenderfoot Mountain and its "W", with holes for welding the layers together.

-
Bottle opener demo part
A bottle opener with a Haas logo for the HAAS TA project, plus an assembly I used to check the bolt tolerances.
3D printed
-
Wheel hook
A curved wall hook with a flat mounting plate. The printed version is in use; a CNC-machined version is next.

-
Engineering Projects sign
Lettering and backing for the projects wall, through four revisions.
Laser cut
-
Broom rack
A broom rack with a CNC-cut body, a lever arm, and a wall mount.
CNC cut
-
Tape measure rack
A rack for the woodshop's tape measures. I cut a cardboard prototype of the footprint before the final part.
Plasma cut, then bent on the sheet metal brake
-
Pencil holder
Slotted laser-cut walls with an engraved front, keyhole slots for mounting, and a 3D-printed cap.
Laser cut and engraved, 3D printed
-
Towel holder warning ring
An engraved warning ring for a shop towel holder.
Laser engraved
-
Table saw caster feet
Four caster feet for the table saw mount.
Plasma-cut 1/4 in steel plate, drilled and tapped
-
Fence shelf
A fence shelf for the woodshop, revised from separate parts into a single piece.
Plasma cut, then bent on the brake
-
CNC parallels shelf
A footprint shelf for storing CNC parallels, through three revisions.
Laser cut
-
Sandpaper rack
A sheet-metal rack for sandpaper, mounted on wood standoffs and anchored into the drywall.
